Mesquite Archery Club currently sits on 37 acres of wooded land with a meadow and a creek running down the middle of it. We have 5 bridges spanning the creek and many of our shooting lanes are positioned near or on the creek.

We have just completed revamping our practice range. Tim Wagner the club VP designed and built a metal frame system that will hold a exterior building product. The design calls for the replacement of slats of the material when its shot out and just add new material. The target butt can be adjusted to add more pressure to tighten it up or we can loosen the devise to ease the pressure. This along with our lighted range makes a very relaxing place to hone your accuracy. We have the even number targets on the right side, beginning with 20, 30, 40, 50 and 60 yards, then on the left side we have the odd numbers; 15, 25, 35, and 45 yard. The practice range has several older 3-d targets at unmarked distances. The range can accommodate over 75 shooters

Setting animals in a real life scenario is our goal with each shoot. At MAC we feel that placing that animal in a position that will test your skills and re-enact the real setting is important to a good shoot and to condition a good shooter. Target placement and distances for club shoots varies with every shoot

The creek provides a realistic setting for our 3-D crocodile, a club favorite. The meadow, with tall cedars provides a life like setting for the elk, turkey, or large hogs, while the boundary between the meadow and woods usually have deer scraping velvet or eating acorns or apples.

The bottomland is excellent for positioning raccoon and the occasional hog or wolf, while the cobra or dinosaur may end up anywhere.

We have a total of about 95 good condition 3-D animals, both Reinhardt and McKenzie. We normally use the Reinhardt on club shoots and the McKenzie on our clubs Tuesday Night Shoots. Regardless when they are used, the animal is continuously monitored for wear and damage. Inserts or body parts are replaced when needed.

SHOOT PICTURE

MAC has about 6 club shoots per year. The range is set up with 30 animals before every shoot. Fees for club shoots vary and the club shoots are money pay back shoot. Adults win prize money in their respective division and kids win special trophies. Club shoots begin in Jan and go into July and Aug. Shoots are usually on Sundays, the qualifiers and championship shoots are on both Saturday and Sunday. Club Shoots and qualifiers usually start at 10:00 AM, for specific times see the upcoming events section.

Tuesday Night Shoots begin the first Tuesday Night in April and end sometime in September when we cap it off with our special Members Only

HUNT SHOOT

The Tuesday night shoots are from 4 PM until dark. The Tuesday night shoots consists of 20 animals uniquely set up before every Tuesday. These shoots are considered only Fun Shoots with no prizes or payback. Fees for Members are $4 and non-members pay $8.

Club Buildings

We have a barn that we call the Tech Room. There you can tune your bow, check your weight, paper tune, cut arrows, center shot test, and make any adjustments you would make at a archery specialty store. This is open and available to all members.

Also on the site next to the tech barn is our concession stand. There we sell cokes, candy, coffee, hamburgers, hot dogs, and even hot chocolate. Our prices are very reasonable and really our goal is to make the shoot a memorable experience and then discuss the shoot among friends over a burger and soft drink. Club members volunteer to man the stand during shoots and other events
